Ingredients:
- 55g butter
- 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 400g cherry pie filling (or any other pie filling)
Method:
- Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.
- Melt butter or margarine in a large saucepan. Remove pan from heat; stir in oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt until a dry, crumbly dough forms. Press about 2/3 of the dough into the bottom of 8 inch pan, making a firm even layer.
- Spread cherry pie filling in the crust, and sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until top is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature with cool custard.

Can't wait to try this. How do you make the custard? So far, I am such a lazy woman, i always use vanilla ice cream or whipped cream to go with your wonderful bread pudding recipe or with a peach cobbler recipe I got off my friend's book. Hahaha. The only time I make custard is when I am making trifle, yg tu pun tak ikut recipe betul2. I usually use the recipe on the Bird's custard tin itself. Is that okay?
Over here, I just buy ready made Devon/ Asda/ Tesco custard because it's so easy and cheap and yummy. Back in Malaysia, I just taram my custard, as long as it is thick and sweet(ish), Some people put egg, I don't. I prefer my custard not too sweet. I guess, if you follow the custard recipe on the tin, it would be okay, kot...in fact it would probably better than my taram one..:)
But, you mentioned peach cobbler..is it good..? Because I have found some recipes for it but I cannot imagine what it would taste like because the only thing I've ate that sounds similar is Chicken Cobbler and I cannot imagine that dish using peaches!
mmmm, that makes life easy that there is such thing as ready made custard.
Well peach cobbler is similar to your cherry crumble but the base is the peach and the topping is like dollops of butter cake, so you serve it when it's warm and with whipped cream. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, sedaaaaaaaap. U want the recipe? Will put it in my blog nanti, esok laa. Don't have the recipe with me today.
